The High Court of Chhattisgarh is the High Court for the state of Chhattisgarh, which was established on 1 November 2000, when the state of Chhattisgarh was carved out of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The High Court of Chhattisgarh is located in the city of Bilaspur.
The High Court of Chhattisgarh has jurisdiction over the state of Chhattisgarh, and has original and appellate jurisdiction over civil and criminal matters. The court also has the power to issue writs for the enforcement of fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
The High Court of Chhattisgarh has a Chief Justice and several other judges. The Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh is appointed by the President of India in consultation with the Chief Justice of India and the Governor of Chhattisgarh.
The High Court of Chhattisgarh has several benches, which are located in different parts of the state to facilitate the speedy and efficient delivery of justice. The main bench of the High Court of Chhattisgarh is located in Bilaspur.
The High Court of Chhattisgarh has its own rules of procedure and conducts its proceedings in English, although litigants can also use Hindi in court.
