The Chhattisgarh High Court in Bilaspur has indeed taken a proactive step by registering a suo moto public interest litigation (PIL) based on the news article from “Navbharat” dated June 13, 2024. The court has addressed two critical civic issues: Waterlogging and Drainage System : The court recognized the problem of waterlogging due to unfinished drainage construction in Kashyap Colony, leading to significant water accumulation on the roads even after light rainfall. Power Outages Due to Hoardings : The court also looked into the disruptions in the electricity supply caused by hoardings falling onto power lines, with a notable incident in Deendayal Garden, Vyapar Vihar affecting the 33 KV line. The court’s directive requires the Secretary of Urban Administration and Development and the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation in Bilaspur to submit personal affidavits outlining the actions taken to resolve these issues.
